With SXSW 2014 now in the past, it’s a great time to reflect on how Mercury Mambo collaborated with MKTG and made the Mambo Magic happen for Yahoo! at this year’s festival. The Yahoo! House set out to create a fun environment for SXSW attendees with entertainment, innovation and inspiration. As a current intern at Mercury Mambo, my focus was on providing support for the event planning that took place, as well as to learn from the amazing team putting it all together. This was my first behind the scenes look at how an event of this magnitude is executed and I learned quickly how important it is to plan and organize big events in order to become successful. I also realized that the Yahoo! House was a great opportunity for Mercury Mambo to showcase their ideas and expertise as experiential leaders in the industry.
Three things that impressed me the most during this journey include:
• The attention to every small detail in order to make the event perfect.
• Definitely working on an event this big takes time and a lot of hard work.
• It takes a lot of teamwork, communication and collaboration to make it a success.
It was fun to participate in a SXSW event, but I have to say that working with Mercury Mambo as an intern and looking at the great outcome is more enjoyable. The experience that Yahoo! provided during SXSW made me realize that when agencies collaborate they bring creativity, organizational skills and raise the bar high in order to make it a great and an unforgettable activation.
