Every semester we look forward to new Mambitos joining the crew. Our Fall Mambitos are here and ready to make the Mambo magic happen. This semester we invite you to meet Jill Tseng!
Hometown: Hsinchu, Taiwan (R.O.C.)
College/University: UT Austin and National Taiwan University
Major/Minor/any other focus: Advertising / Marketing in Business Administration
What’s your education focus?
My education focus is mainly on “business persuasion” since I pursued my master degree in advertising and my major in undergrad is business administration for marketing. I’d love to know more about the strategies businesses used to communicate with their customers and to understand the customers’ psychology and behavior.
How did you hear of Mercury Mambo?
I heard about Mercury Mambo while I was browsing websites for internship opportunities in advertising agencies in Austin. And I quickly found Mercury Mambo attractive as I read its blogs and realized the advertising agency can offer interns a multicultural, friendly and cozy learning environment.
As an intern – what is the single most important thing you want to learn at Mercury Mambo?
Since I studied advertising and marketing, I believe it’s a good chance to put what I’ve learned from school into practice. So I’d like to learn about how real marketing projects take place and I also want to closely observe an advertising agency running its daily business.
Where would you like to take the lead in the Advertising Industry and why?
Digital advertising and marketing in a research direction, which may include market and consumer research. I think it’s really interesting to understand the data people collected, to filter out the useful insights and then to brainstorm some creative ideas and make them happen!
What is most challenging about juggling school and work?
I think the most challenging part is the time and mind management.
Single activity that has most prepared you for this internship?
Writing creative briefs in my account planning class has prepared me for this internship! Because it helps me roughly understand what would be considered while preparing for a marketing project and campaign.
